Life Drawing: Lyssa

Some days are easier than others. My drawing time today was much more frustrating than last week.

Honestly I think the issue was the model. Not that the model was bad or moving around a lot, on the contrary Lyssa is a great model. The issue was how I approached drawing a female form with elegant curves versus how I drew a male model last week.

Last week I could draw almost recklessly and fast letting my passion for the form take over and work mostly by feeling. But today I tried that method and I found my drawing clunky and awkward, completely contrary to the slight elegant build of this model.

I guess the lesson for today is to recognize the subject, regardless of who or what it is, and adjust my artistic approach accordingly.
