Life Drawing: Randy

As I drew Randy today at life drawing I’m reminded of Andrew Wyeth one of my most favorite artists.

Wyeth painted what was around him, the people and the countryside. I’m always fascinated by the simplicity of his tempera paintings in both composition and subject matter. He had a way of capturing people in simple, real life situations that would make me wonder about their history.

There is something about drawing a man in the later years of his life. Or anyone that is worn by age and living. There is so much interest in every part of their bodies. It’s like looking through time. I can’t help but wonder about┬áRandy’s previous multitude of years and how to capture them in a drawing.
