It’s become extremely apparent to me that a multitude of paint layers is a much more exciting way to render skin.
There is a depth and body to the layering process that far surpasses a wet in wet approach. Of course this is subjective and it would be impossible for any readers to understand what I mean here as the photographs of this painting, and the complexity of digital devices, end up turning my painting into a sad blob of color. It needs to be seen in person to understand but basically my feeling lean towards working the surface with many layers of not just glazes but opaque paint also.
Next session with Patrick I need to check the drawing of the arm on the left before continuing.
