I’m excited to see all the gray areas getting filled with color and it’s nice to get the complex stack of CD’s started.
Many of the items in this painting have lead me to question weather or not I should actually include them in the painting. Maybe they are too distracting from the figure or too much detail. But I keep them all and in their glorious detail, because each of these small things are part of Patrick’s life. Some of the smallest items in our lives can be the most precious. Who am I to omit what could be deeply precious to Patrick and his family. My purpose is to capture Patrick, all of him, and who he is in this moment. Patrick is part of his environment as we are part of ours. It would be impossible for me to describe the totality of Patrick without also describing his environment.
What went well?
The initial layers of these tapes were fun to pain and were easily described.
What didn’t go so well?
I’m only spending about an hour on art today.
What did I learn?
Lao Tzu: “Confront the difficult while it is still easy; accomplish the great task by a series of small acts.”
