Figure Drawing

Back to figure drawing from New Masters Academy photos. I must admit that drawing from photos is not near as exciting as drawing from life, but it fits my budget.

Not until doing a whole month of figure drawing sessions around 2 hours long each have I realized how important breaks are. For live model sessions it’s important that we give the model at least a 5 minute break in between poses. What I didn’t realize is that the 5 minute break for the artists is just as important.

I find that if I take a 5 minute break after each 20 minute segment and walk around a bit that I keep my focus and energy longer. Of course this does shorten actual drawing time a bit. For a three hour drawing session with breaks you only get about 2 hours of actual drawing done. But I feel that quality over quantity is better in the instance.
