What I want to accomplish is in my head visually, but I lack the ability to communicate it through acrylic.
I’m not achieving what I want with acrylic so far that is apparent. But as I compare my progress today with my last self portrait I see that I accomplish what I wanted then with oil paint and it is the same as what I want now. So, I’m debating to continue with the acrylic or abandon it and start with oil. The problem is that if I start with oil there is no going back…
Considering the stark white canvas, and this is the first time I’ve begun a painting on a white canvas, I may just use the acrylic as a base layer with some crazy colors for the face then move into oils.
I have some thinking to do….
