Hogwarts Castle: Perspective

Today I’m starting a new Fandom Fitness drawing of Hogwarts Castle from the Harry Potter movies.

Right away I’m finding that drawing a castle is much easier than drawing a portrait and figure. But just to make sure I’m not relaxing too much I’m focusing on the perspective of the image I’m drawing from. It is a very slight three point perspective as the photo was taken from below the castle.

I’m hoping that I can finish this drawing in only a few sessions.

This is not the only thing I was working on today, I spent most of my three hour session searching for imagery and putting the final coats of gesso on my next portrait.

What went well?

I started the drawing well and the refinement is going smoothly. Also the gessoed canvas for Ann’s painting is looking great, super smooth.

What didn’t go so well?

Lot of my time was split between two projects.

What did I learn and/or how can I do better?

Transition from one project to the next is always a time of divided focus and even though I log hours on art, some of it is not actually spent in creating something through drawing or painting.
