Xena Overworked

I really dislike this latest Xena drawing. I’ve overworked it and killed any emotion or feeling in it.

But knowing that I’ve overworked it and killed it is awesome! I love mistakes because it means I’m actually trying something new and different or stepping out of my comfort zone.

In either case I’m learning something. I just hope I don’t repeat it in the future.

I may move on to another fandom fitness character tomorrow but regardless I’m going to try and keep the next drawing fresh and energetic.

Overworked, blah!

Oh! Another issue with my drawing is their lack of structure. I don’t have a good understanding of how to render the structure of the head as it advances and recedes into space.

I should find some other artists that do drawing with great structure and learn from them.

Gestures

I’m loving my gestures today. I was able to focus on them and pull out some expressions of form that I’m really happy with.

Plus I was describing them well with minimal lines. I was able to capture the bigger shapes first and see the whole of the figure before the details.

What went well?

Loving my gestures today.

What didn’t go so well?

I overworked Xena and I really dislike the drawing and all it’s shading.

What did I learn and/or how can I do better?

Work on structure for the face. Learn how to get the head structure well defined in space before focusing on the details. Maybe do a whole series of quicker head drawing just dealing with structure.
